Overview about File Transfer with FTAM
ISO 8571 defines the FTAM standard File Transfer, Access and Management. Originally this standard was part of the OSI suite of standards but now it also has its own right of existence since it provides a well-constructed and functionally rich protocol and file transfer service.
openFT FTAM support - main features
Two subsets of the functions defined in the FTAM standard are supported; these are Simple File Transfer and Filestore Management (application profiles A/111 and A/13) defined in the International Standardized Profiles ISO/IEC ISP 10607-3 (CEN/CENELEC ENV 41204) and ISO/IEC ISP 10607-6 (ENV 41205). All FTAM mandatories of UK GOSIP (Government OSI Profile) V3.1/4.0 and limited US GOSIP V2.0 are also supported.

FTAM protocol support while retaining the openFT interface and system of user prompting. Consequently the user can at any time switch from Siemens/openFT to OSI/FTAM without adapting the applications, provided the functions used are supported by the FTAM protocol. |
| - |
For customers currently working with openFT products on the basis of openFT protocols, the FTAM support extend the interconnection options to all systems that support the FTAM protocol. |
| - |
Ability to communicate via TCP/IP based on RFC 1006 and via ISO-WAN, ISO-LAN. |
| - |
Automatic recovery if file transfer is interrupted. |
| - |
FTAC functions provide extended, individually definable system protection when communicating with bothopenFT and FTAM partners. |
